Mc-Can-Do Method

"I have developed my "Mc-Can-Do method" using a combination of backgrounds, since I have worked as a walker, dog daycare handler, and group class trainer. Keeping with my Canine Coach roots, I do believe in a positive, reward based approach to training, using treats and happy voice to motivate. That being said, I do not consider myself a "purely positive" trainer. My Mc-Can-Do method stands on the following three pillars:

1) Good leadership & well timed, but fair corrections.
2) Kennel training.
3) Consistent, established boundaries and schedule.

I'm a firm believer that cultivating a well mannered dog starts by looking at the whole picture, then breaking it into chunks based on these tenants. My Mc-Can-Do method seeks to achieve this by addressing your dog's mental & physical needs, as well as acknowledging the needs & lifestyle of you, the human companion.

My services are designed to provide consistency, above constant engagement. I believe a healthy amount of rest, with work and play, helps to cultivate a more complete and well balanced dog. I strive for providing a predictable schedule for the dog(s) to understand and be grounded by. If the dog is doing a behavior I'd rather not see them practice, I aim to redirect, or stop the behavior either through obedience commands like, "leave it", "watch me", changing walking direction or turning the dog's attention with food or play. Additionally, I consider my services to be at their best when I can work 1 on 1 with a dog, as this allows me the quality time I need to effect positive steps forward. Just like humans, every dog learns differently and at their own pace, and that's okay."
